Hello fellow Iowa track coaches! My name is Greg Williams. I was recently elected to 2nd Vice President of the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. I currently coach track in Monticello, Iowa and am in my 28th year in the Monticello district.

The reason that I decided to become an officer is due to my participation in the bi-yearly meetings. I have learned that the only way to get the true “feel” for our organization, is to attend the meetings. Although we have a fantastic website, I don’t believe that you can get a true feeling of all that the organization does for the area of track and field/cross country in Iowa, unless you actually get to the meetings. The meetings cover things such as: what is going on in track and field, new rules and regulations as well as getting to know other coaches throughout the state. The more of you that attend the meetings, the more we can use and share each other’s track and field knowledge. I really can’t emphasize enough, the importance of attending the meetings! I value all of your opinions and ideas! I look forward to seeing more new faces in the coming months as well as the familiar “old” ones!

As 2nd vice president, my first responsibility is to create a data base of all the college coaches in the state of Iowa. This data base will be available through our website. We are inviting them to be more involved in our organization.  We hope some will be willing to attend our meetings. This will create a better line of communication from our coaches to them and ultimately benefit our athletes looking to compete at the next level.

I look forward to my position with such a terrific organization. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns.
