There must be a lot of Game of Thrones fans out there that took the phrase “Winter is Coming” too literally. Holy Cow. I hope everyone received a shovel for Christmas this year. Mother Nature has shown her power and we all have felt her wrath this Winter. I hope all of you have taken advantage of the Coaching Education tools made available to you this year from both Altis and Championship Productions. These are two incredible resources for all of our coaches to learn from. If you haven’t done so, please reach out to any of us and we can help you get set up.
This indoor season will mark the Inaugural IATC Indoor Championships at the University of Dubuque on March 23rd. We are looking forward to a great event to have some of the state’s best square off against each other. A special Thank you to Eric Cogdill from Ankeny Centennial who is our meet coordinator and Chad Gunnelson and his staff at UD who do a great job hosting meets. Their facility is beautiful at the University of Dubuque. It will be a great day to finish off the 2019 indoor track and field season.
This is a season of change. Please note the event changes, schedule changes and the amount of qualifiers that have the opportunity to compete at the Drake Relays in 2019. Blake Bolden and the staff have made some tweaks that should certainly make this year’s relays something to look forward to. Lastly, we also have some changes in our format from hurdle height to recovery time at the state qualifying meet to the way Quikstats results are entered. Make sure you all stay current on the rules meetings and memos from Jared Chizek at the IAHSAA and Garry Ross from the IGHSAU.
Best of Luck and Health to all of you and your teams this 2019 season.
