The 2019 season has officially begun and not without a major challenge from Mother Nature. Even with the weather challenges there have been amazing results from indoor meets that have been held around the state. That is a true testament to all of you and how you can adapt and overcome different adversities.
Don’t forget to be checking out our website: www.iowarunjumpthrow.com. Our website coordinator Rob Hamman has done an outstanding job in designing and taking care of our association website. There are so many tools for coaches to use and utilize. From “Looking for Meets” to “Academic All-State Nominations” to “Meet Openings” to “IATC Indoor Championships” and everything in between; our website is loaded with information.
There are a few things later in the track and field season that you will want to put on your schedule as we know this is a busy time of year. The first events are the Mike Henderson Junior High State Track and Field Meets. These will be held on Saturday, May 4th. The JH girls meet will be held at Ankeny Stadium (Northview Middle School) and the boys meet will be held at Ames High School. We greatly appreciate these programs stepping up and hosting these meets and all of the work that they entail. The link with more information on these meets can be found on our IATC website under Track & Field/Middle School/Mike Henderson Meets or by clicking HERE.
Another IATC hosted-event that will be occurring after our state meet is the IATC Senior Spotlight Meet. There are some monumental changes occurring to this meet in 2019. Bob Saunders, who is our Senior Spotlight Coordinator, along with several other co-coordinators, are working diligently to get the last minor kinks worked out. Look for information coming soon including date, location, format, standards, and nominations.
In closing I’d like to wish all of you a spring season filled with tremendous weather, unlimited highlights, and amazing memories made with your teams. Best of luck to you all!
