IATC Members,
Despite the weather, May has officially arrived. The IATC Board of Directors would like to update you on the information that follows. Please pass this information on to your assistants and your middle school coaches.
IATC Mike Henderson Middle School State Track & Field Meets: These meets are set for this Saturday, May 7th. The girls meet will be hosted by and held at Waukee Northwest (655 N 10th St). The boys meet will be hosted by Ankeny Centennial and held at Ankeny Stadium (1302 N. Ankeny Boulevard). Meet information can be found on our IATC website HERE. Monday, May 2nd at 11:59pm is the registration deadline.
IATC Outdoor Championships: The IATC Board of Directors has made a recent change concerning what was formerly called the IATC Senior All-Star Meet. In 2022, we will not be hosting a Sr. All-Star Meet. Instead, we will be hosting the IATC Outdoor Championships. This event will be held at Iowa City West High School on Saturday, June 4th and will be open to track & field athletes from Iowa in grades 9-12 from the state of Iowa. All of the contested events will be individual events (up to the 800m run, includes all field events). There will also be a Track Guy Senior Showdown in the 100m dash. The IATC Outdoor Championship event will be free for all participants in 2022. We are working to get all of the meet info and schedule uploaded to our website very soon. Any questions can be directed to Mike Parker (icparker@msn.com).
MS & HS Pentathlon: Both of these events are set for Saturday, June 4th at Iowa City West High School. These events will be coordinated with the IATC Outdoor Championship event on the same day. Schedules and more information will be posted to the Pentathlon website found HERE. Questions about the MS/HS Pentathlon can be directed to coordinator Nathan Hopp ( infoiatcchamps@gmail.com).
IATC Spring Meeting: Mark your calendars! The IATC will be hosting our annual Spring Meeting (in-person only) at Iowa City West High School on Sunday, June 5th at 9:00am.
Membership Update/Awards: Just a friendly reminder that in order for your student-athletes and coaches to be eligible this spring for Academic All-State, All-State, Elite All-State, and Coach of the Year awards; your school must be a current and paid member of IATC. Schools that have paid for their 2021-2022 IATC Membership can be found HERE. Due to many circumstances, the IATC Board of Directors has waived the ACT requirement for the track & field academic all-state awards for this season.
2nd Vice President/IATC Board of Directors: Jared Fletcher’s tenure as President of the IATC will be completed after the June 5th meeting in Iowa City. At this meeting we will be electing our 2nd Vice President. Current Board of Director Abby Schmitz will be on the ballot for 2nd Vice President. Any other interested candidates should contact President Fletcher (jared.fletcher@carlislecsd.org) or 1st VP Greg Williams (montitrack@yahoo.com). At our June meeting, we will also be voting on our Board of Directors positions as these are 2 year terms. All current Board of Directors have agreed to serve another two year term. Any others who are interested in a Board of Directors position should also contact President Fletcher or 1st VP Greg Williams.
Don’t forget to check our website (https://www.iowarunjumpthrow.com) as it is updated with information on a frequent basis. Thank you for being valued members of the IATC and best of luck the remainder of this season!
